Found on the beach in Barbados large lump of clear jelly with sucker frill like bottom with bright pink blob in the centre. About the size of 6″ diameter.

How long do moon Jellyfish live in home aquariums and are they hard to take care of. Also how big can they grow.

    Thanks

    • Wyatt says:

      Hi Hasan,
Moon jellies can live over a year in home aquariums, perhaps several years if exceptional care is provided. Moon jellies are easier to take care of than reef tanks in some ways and challenging in other ways. Most moon jellies are going to max out at ~8″ diameter in home aquariums, but it is possible they could grow larger.

    Hi,

The other week I was out on our harbour and it was full of jellyfish. I took some photos but know nothing about them. A friend sent me here, she said you might be able to help identify them for me. I have posted a few images of them here: http://jobryantnz.wordpress.com/2013/11/24/cbbh-challenge-looking-down/
I would really love it if you could take a look and tell me what you think they are.

    Thanks

Hello, I plan on owning an Saltwater pet shop and was wondering on how one raises jellyfish, like what type of tank, and how to get them to spawn.

    • Wyatt says:

Hi Brandon, you’ll want to look into some of the existing jellyfish tanks and use one as a show tank and holding tank so customers can pickup jellies from your store. You would need some hands on training to start breeding them yourself in a fish store…

Hey! I was wondering what kind of animals would be compatible to live with jellyfish like moon jellyfish or a mangrove box jellyfish and if jellyfish can live in an aquarium with small corals and sea anemonieas and other fishes?

    • Wyatt says:

Hi Jamie, I do not recommend keeping other animals with moon jellies or magrove box jellies. You can keep other fish and inverts with Cassiopea, the upside down jelly. There is an entire list of compatible species here on Jellyfish Aquarist…

    Hi Wyatt,

I live in Bangalore, India. I want to setup a moon jelly aquarium. Do you have any idea as to where can I buy these type of aquariums in India. Also, do let me know what is the optimum tank size ans shape for the moon jellies. Thanks.

  7. Everyone love to keep moon jellies in the aquarium. But I want to keep some other species in a jellyfish tank. What other good looking jellyfish species can be kept safely in a saltwater tank?

    • Wyatt says:

Upside down jellies are pretty easy, other than that most other jellies require constant feeding or strong lighting and are for dedicated jelly aquarists.
